Alebrijes
Alebrijes are a clay sculpture of three animals merged together. For mine, i have decided to make mine a phoenix, unicorn, and a dragon. The horn of a unicorn, the wings of a phoenix, and the tail of a dragon.
Tesselations
These are called tesselations. Alot of everyday objects are tesselations when you think about it. Ceiling tiles, floor tiles, walls, etc. It is the use of complimentary colors in my opinion. I have shared pictures of both my first tesselation and my final. For my final I had some complications but I have solved them to the best of my ability. I think that my favorite part about my final is the colors. Red and black are our school colors and I think they go together well.
Think outside the box
For this project, we were given a piece of a magazine paper. We have to distract the viewer from the piece but not make the entire project look like the piece. so i am making mine look like a strand of purple lights, but i used the girl in the drawing to distract the viewer from the peice. I had also used the planets because I am interested in space, also to distract the viewer.
Art Final
Semester finas have come! We had the option to do anything we would like as the last test of the semester. I unsed a woodburner, nails, string, and paint to create this peice. I used acrylic paint ot the wood. I also used a mix of string to kind of give it that nirthern light look. I think my favorite part about it would be the sky.
Dream House Perspective
We are now working on perspective. We learned the different points of perspective. We are designing our "Dream House". Mine is set in the mountains, hidden but not too hard to find. I want the exterior to be wood, similar to a cabin. The interior will be a modern style with wood and glass. These are my floor plans!
Press Printing
This is my new, most recent print. I decided to make it look like a sweater pattern. I have five intaglio and five relief. I also chose to do some warm colors and some cool colors. my personal favorites are the red ones and the ones that fade from blue into a reddish-purple.
For this I have a piece of cardboard. This is my first print so I was just using different objects to see how it would look. What I did was glued string and cotton ball to my cardboard. All materials have to be almost the same height. When you are finished glueing your materials to the board you will get shellac to make your project stiff so it makes putting ink on it easier. When it is dry you should have a printing press. Put a paper under the cardboard and above it so that the ink or paint does not get everywhere.
Frida Kahlo Self Portrait
Frida Kahlo was a famous artist. She lived in a time when being a female artist was not respected. Her life was not perfect. She had been divorced three times with the same person. Then finally she had been married again, with the same person, until she died. Before she passed away, she spent a lot of time in the hospital so most of her time was devoted to drawing self portraits. This week we were put to the challenge of drawing our best self portraits.
